5.03 GEN-A Custom Firmware released! CFW on PSP-3000′s

PSPGEN have released Custom Firmware 5.03GEN-A for HEN!! What does this mean? Well its something many of us have been waiting for since the PSP-3000 was released. Full blown Custom Firmware is now possible on your PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA088v3. Thanks to GENyUS and PSPGen.com. Just watch the video above as proof this works.

How to Install,

Pre installation: Make sure you have a PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with Firmware 5.03 – You need this for ChickHEN R2 to work.

Download ChickHEN R2 by Davee & Team Typhoon
Download 5.03 GEN-A Custom Firmware.
Install ChickHEN and run/load ChickHEN R2
Follow these steps below

01. Connect your PSP to the computer in USB Mode when you have loaded ChickHEN R2.
02. Unzip 5.03GEN-A_for_HEN.zip on your desktop by example
03. double-click on LAUNCH-ME.exe (GUI)
04.PSP Model : choose options PSP-2000 or PSP-3000 (depends of your PSP)
05.Mode : Choose option FULL
06. PSP Install : Choose option YES
07. Push START.
08.the files are copied on your PSP.
09. Disconnect the PSP from USB.
10. Launch the main EBOOT.PBP / Loader using ChickHEN R2 (only R2! NOT R1!).
11. When the app load, press L or R to flash the firmware in your flash. YOU ONLY NEED MAKE IT ONE TIME!
12. Press () to reboot in the custom firmware.

Known Bugs:

The RECOVERY MODE of the 5.02GEN-A was patché to turn on the PSP-3000. It makes it possible to modify the majority of the usual options. Note that we some problems with this recovery in VSH and will undoubtedly have to be awaited a patch encounters correction so that it is functional at 100%. Note that SMALL GEN VSH functions, him, very well.

have not used my PSP3002 for 6 months. checked out this today and installed works like a charm. Finally can play my old PS1 games like Abe’s Oddyssey – freaking awsome. thanks to the guys that have worked hard on this. can now use my PSP for the reason I bought it!

stupid question my cousin got a psp 3000 with 5.50 OFW can i use my pandora to downgrade the psp to 5.00 OFW then install 5.03 OFW to later use this Chicken HEN R2 to put 5.03GEN

Hi. I have a PSP 2004 Slim&Lite. With the last update its ofw is now 5.03 . How can i change the ofw to cfw? I’ve tried CFW enabler and this Gen-A for a HEN too. Although it says “done with success”, when i press circle -after it says that and i pressed “R” once- it just shuts down. And after that, when i boot the PSP it’s still 5.03 ofw. Can someone please help me!!!

  I’ve the same problem. I flashed the custom firmware by pressing “R” (it says “done with success”) and next when I pressed “O” my PSP hangs for a while and turns off. I tried do this a number of times. Please help us!

  You cannot downgrade from 5.53 if you r on a psp 3000, however i believe you can downgrade from 5.53 if you r on a psp 2000 or lower. I may be wrong but you should try searching on google or you tube.

i get all the way to installing the cfw and then try to reboot into it with O and every time it says process failed, cant load module, then reboots back into chickhen. ive reinstalled 3 times why does it keep failing when im so close?

Hi guys , for god sake i need help … i ve read like 600 comments , seriously not fast reading , but read all words and procedure etc etc. My problem is (i know this as been asked manytimes but nothing have fixed my problem) I cant get chicken R2 to work. The psp (psp 3001 ratchet & clank edition) just crashes after i go in pictures and press X on chicken folder in photo then i wait , i know you guys said that it might need few tries , i ve done it 43 time (no kidding) in a row and still the dam psp just cras it doesnt reboot. i tryed everything put the files in pictures , h.bin in root , put the files in ms/psp/photo , delete the files , redownload the .rar done it with UMD , whitout UMD , with wlan on/off , i did reset settings to factory default everything , every solution ive found within those 600 comments talking about that , ive done it , but still it doesnt work …. Whats wrong for god sake ! ill give 10$ to the guy who give me the solution , no kidding tru paypal ill send you 10freakin bucks. i Worked on that for 10 hours in 2 days and NOTHING. So please help me it would be much appreciate.

  I’ve got a PSP 2000 Ta88v3. When I need to load ChickenR2, I don’t wait until all the eggs (the pictures) are shown on the PSP, because my PSP will reboot itself. The approach I use (and works for me) goes like this:
  
  When your PSP is powered on, turn it off.
  Wait 5 seconds and power the PSP on
  Go as fast as you can to pictures
  Go as fast as you can to the bottom of the pictures
  When you’ve done it fast enough, R2 will load.
  If not, the PSP will shut down after aprox. 10 seconds.
  Then try again, following the above steps.
  It always works for me within three tries.

  what you need to to is make sure that you are in ofw 5.03. if so, plug psp into charger, wait for a moment go to photos, chickhen folder, start to scroll down slowly, dont press x just down to scroll slowly, once you get the hang of it it will work everytime, but the trick is plug psp up to charger and give it a minute for battery to start taking charge. doesnt matter if battery is dead or fully charged. try it.

  listen to the assmunch, make sure you are in 5.03 if yes then restore factory settings even if that’s where they are at already. when done shut off umd auto start and umd cache. once done go to pictures, wait for the egg to appear in the icon press x. just wait dont scroll down dont do anything. it may not work right away, if it dont, just keep opening up pictures, you dont have to restore settings every time. also keep any and all pictures off of your psp.

    almost forgot, you have to have the h.bin file on the root of your memory stick as well.

I have some questions and I need some answers…
I got a PSP 2000 slim in version 5.03 m33 Custom Firmware
I use chicken(with vista pictures in it. Not the eggs) and CFWLoader 3.01
I am just wondering if I upgraded my PSP in version 5.50 gen A or B… Can I still use my CFWLoader 3.01?
or I need to find another solution to fix it?? If the error “there are no games” shows up…

I want this upgrade because I want to play bloody roar 2 on my PSP (ps1 ISO)

  I am not sure if you can because, i think you can crack the psp 2000. I dont know how to do it. you would have to keep looking, try google or you tube. I have psp 3000. I use ChickHenR2 (with the eggs) and I am using gen-a(full) and I can play all my PS1 isos.

i have one question: when i press start with the LAUNCH-ME.exe then the files come on my desktop (there is the .exe also) not on my psp so now i don’t know where to put the files on my psp.

Ok – I have the same problem as most with PSP 200x (I have 2001). I do everything and it goes fine but when I’m at last step where I have to reboot with () (I suppose it’s O (ring, circle etc.)). So I press L or R and () afterwards. PSP is going to reboot in CFW but the screen just turns black and after ~20 seconds it turns off. When I switch it on I have to done all ChickHEN and Loader stuff again but everything’s the same neither I press L or R or () only. I formatted memory stick and tried to start everything from the very beginning. I even resetted all settings.
So I started again but still the same – just blackness after pushing ().
Maybe it’s fault of that I flashed it dozen times when it just turned off?
Maybe I should check PSP 3000 box not 2000? Or that could mess up the PSP entirely?
Btw. – I have PSP-2000 TA088v3.

P.S. I know this has been asked dozen times but – where I have to put ISOs after flashing?

  I have the same problem I fixed my previous one but now after I flash the custom firmware and then I press to reboot it just turns off and then when I turn it back on its back to OFW 5.03. WTF is the matter with this thing lol. Sorry for the language but this is my lik 350925325 time using custom firmware and I never had this much trouble. Help please ?

  do everything you just said and let the psp hang. when you turn it back on get chickhen going and put the GEN-B update in the game folder on you psp. run the program and you now have gen-b. it’s the samething as gen-a. tho your not gonna play ps1 games on it. 2000′s seem to have problems doing that too

    oh ya, about iso’s plug in the usb, open the folder to view the files. once there create a new folder and call it ISO all in caps. that is where you put your iso’s. cso’s work in there too

How come when i load chickhen, then load the custom firmware, when it reboots it just goes back to OFW 5.03, it does that every single time…anyone know why?

For your own safety, is better that you rename or erase the prx called “flasher.prx” in the MAIN APP folder to
avoid wrong flash times.”

When I remove all this and shutdown the psp fully and ran chickhen then the installer loader it says that the files folder wasn’t found then It aborts.

So should I keep this files or remove it? BTW I am on 5.03 Gen-B (full).

Hi anyone …
I tried many times (like ten over times) trying to go i into Gen -A , after pressing O it black out and won’t restart.
When i turn on the psp it go back to 5.03 ofW. I did chickhen R2 the psp . used the complete GenA downloaded from this site. My psp is 2000 V3 . One more things is that I am using 5.03 M33 after trying to install GeN A as I want to upgrade to Gen B the cfwE 3.51 cannot be used , now i can only use CfwE 3.60 .
I have gone through many site like youtube , forums , guide not helpful .

I ve got a psp 3004 and it s running on 5.03 gen-B (full).
Put I wanna put it on my friends psp to put he is afraid that mayby he´s psps motherboard is TA088v3.
Can I put it on a regular psp 2004 what doesnt have a TA088v3 motherboard?
Will it brick it if I put the 5.03 gen-A on a normal, psp 2004?

Ugh, what the heck is wrong with my psp??? No matter how many times I try to install this program, it never works! I can run it, and re-flash and everything, but when it says returning to main menu with CFW, it turns off! Please someone help me, this is really pissing me off!! >_<

Before you start your ISO/CSO game, hit select and change you UMD ISO MODE to M33 Driver.
I had this problem when I first tried it but this fixed it.

You have to go to the Vsh Menu and change umd iso mode to m33 driver or sony np9660. I use CFW enabler, but it should be the same.

Explain, I shall.
“VSH” menu is something you only can use when your PSP is hacked. You can customize certain things through it – you’ll understand when you have it. But one of the major is to enable ISO/CSO play.
Yes, you do need something other then “HenR2″ and “5.03 OFW” and that’s this “5.03 GEN-A CFW,” or the alternative, which is “CFW enabler (insert number here)” to play full ISO/CSO.
I’m ready to go into further explanation, but you’ll have to be specific on what you need me to elaborate on. And just post in this topic and I’ll check here once in a while so I can respond to you.

i installed till coustom loader 3.30 and by mistake i switched of the psp and again i started
the same process and i reached till gen 5.03 and when i open custom loader it exits automatically comes to main menu.

I don’t understand what you are saying. “REACHED till gen 5.03″???? Do you mean that you loaded GEN-A and then tried to run Custim loader??? If this is what you mean, you don’t have to run GEN-A, just ChickHen R2, to run the CFW 3.30. As a matter of fact, you should not have GEN-A at all, you should have uninstalled GEN-A before installing CFW 3.30. Otherwise you fill your Flash with junk! Anyway, I don’t even know if I am anwering your question since I don’t really understand what you have “REACHED”. Explain better, if you will.

May be he does not have a WinRAR?!… If that’s the case just buy or search the net to get a WinRAR Application,once you have it installed, you can now be able to extract RAR Files.

try formatting your memory card then restore youre deffault setting on your psp then do the process again

sometimes the psp takes time to reload…
I usually power down the psp, take out the batter, take out the chip, then put the battery back in and then the chip. I power up and then reload…this usually takes 2 times…but works.

I followed the instructions and my PSP 3000 works like a charm….but somehow my psp stopped being able to enter recovery mode…select button…how can I re-enable the recovery mode?

Do what? Extracting the files??? after installing WinRAR on your computer, the RAR files will now be able to show the WinRAR icon, once it changes you can now extract the RAR files by right-clicking the RAR files then choose “extract here” or “extract files….”. That’s how it works.

Hi. I’m using a PSP 3000 with cfw 5.03 Gen A. I backed up my Rock Band Unplugged UMD this morning, but it didn’t work when I tryed to play the ISO. Could someone tell me how the VSH menu is layed out so I can switch my ISO driver? I can’t see, so I will need step-by-step instructions to change it.

Make sure that it’s R2 not the chickhen mod. My photos are in PSP\PHOTO, you should try this or \PICTURES. Set umd cache and umd auto load to off and also usb charge. try it, if it works. if not, pm me on this username k? If still doesn’t work, try plugging the charger then do the procedures. Scroll to photos, keep clicking on the memstick, after chickhen folder opens, don’t do anything. Pm me if it works
