5.03 TIFF Exploit Hello World V2 for PSP Slim’s & PSP-3000’s!

The PSP-3000 TIFF Exploit.

The . Proof it works....

True to his word MaTiAz has released Version 2 of his Hello World . This version works on PSP Slim units and we have reports from users that it even works on the ! That’s a added bonus. As for the “bit of awesomeness” promised we have to wait just a little longer for that.

MaTiAz’s notes:

Just copy the files to the memory stick root, disconnect USB and go to photo menu. Don’t dismiss the exploit even if it doesn’t work on the first time, it’s *very* unstable. You might get it working on the first time, but you might as well have to try it 20 times!

The h.bin is loaded to 0×08800000, and the text address of paf.prx is passed in $a0 to the binary code. You can then trick out function imports, like for example sceDisplayWaitVblankStart: sceDisplayWaitVblankStart = (void*)(paf_addr+0×15F068);

Instructions:
1. Copy either slim.tiff or phat.tiff to /PSP/PHOTO/ folder on the memory stick, depending on
your PSP model. Do NOT copy both!
2. Copy h.bin to the root of the memory stick.

Also its reported to be working on the () Try the following: (Thanks to n00b81 for the tip!)

From p2s2p: The interesting thing is, they didn’t think it would work for 3000s but it does! Here is what you have to do…follow the same instructions for the slim, but then throw in about 5 or 8 other pics in your photo folder, and when the thumbnails are loading, you have to scroll up and down, and then the PoC should boot up. You need at least 5.02 on a 3000 to work this.

@pspman – if you have a 3000, heres what you do – download the files, put the slim pic in your picture folder, put the hbin with all the folders that pop up when you open the memory stick folder(the root), and then boot your psp – go to the pic folder, and put select the last thhumbnil next to the slim pic, which should be at the bottom – then right as the thumbnail loads, press down and the exploit happens

ok well first you have to have 5-8 pics – then make sure the slim pic is the last one of the bunch, and i have found that the pics are placed according to their last modified date – so pick pics that have been modified before the slam, b/c the last modified is the last one in the bunch – then, while the thumbnails are loading, scroll down so the second to last thumbnail is highlighted before the slim – then, just as the thumbnail loads, press down and the crash should occur – also, make sure you have the bin file placed correctly in the root along with pictures, music, videos, etc. – and make sure the slim is AT THE BOTTOM

this exploit thing was very hard to do.. it took me about 50 tries to really find out what was up..
ppl said that going slow to wait for the picture to load can help, but ive tried that way too many times.
I have 8 pictures and the tiff is the last one making 9 pics. on the 3000, it takes a while. i took out the battery cover so it’ll be easy to shut down whenever it freezes. i go to the photos on the memory stick and then scroll down really fast and then up, then go down slow or depnding really fast.
    hope this help you noobs.

Doesn’t work for me. I have the PSP 3001 (Ratchet & Clank Edition). I have 8 Pics + Slim.tiff and all it does is freeze then turn off. As it’s turning off the mic utters a small sound resembling that of a small fart or perhaps a queef, So atleast I got a chuckle out of it

Cosmo, Same thing happened to me. But I got a PSP 2000. I think it comes from the screen or something. I can’t get the exploit to work. Exactly where should I place the BIN. In MP_ROOT, Main menu [With MP_ROOT, PSP, PICTURE and all], or somewhere else?

zip file. following are the steps followed by me to see the hello world.

1.Add 8 jpg files to the photo folder, make sure the slim.tiff appear last when
you see the thumbnail list in the psp image->memory stick
    2.power on the psp
    3.choose image and memory stick
4.choose the slim.tiff (last in the list) pretty quick (yes quick) and voila … hello world and hi sony.

If you are using a slim model (88v3), then CFW is out of question (atleast for some
time from now, may be days, months) only homebrew is possible in slim.

Its the timing, make sure the slim.tiff is the last one in the image list in the psp, once you click the
camera-> memory stick , go to the slim.tiff quickly .. and allow the psp to decode the tiff and execute
the ’sploit. Good luck with this
