5.03 TIFF Exploit Hello World V2 for PSP Slim’s & PSP-3000’s!

The PSP-3000 TIFF Exploit.

The . Proof it works....

True to his word has released Version 2 of his Hello World . This version works on PSP Slim units and we have reports from users that it even works on the ! That’s a added bonus. As for the “bit of awesomeness” promised we have to wait just a little longer for that.

’s notes:

Just copy the files to the memory stick root, disconnect USB and go to photo menu. Don’t dismiss the exploit even if it doesn’t work on the first time, it’s *very* unstable. You might get it working on the first time, but you might as well have to try it 20 times!

The h.bin is loaded to 0×08800000, and the text address of paf.prx is passed in $a0 to the binary code. You can then trick out function imports, like for example sceDisplayWaitVblankStart: sceDisplayWaitVblankStart = (void*)(paf_addr+0×15F068);

Instructions:
1. Copy either slim.tiff or phat.tiff to /PSP/PHOTO/ folder on the memory stick, depending on
your PSP model. Do NOT copy both!
2. Copy h.bin to the root of the memory stick.

Also its reported to be working on the () Try the following: (Thanks to n00b81 for the tip!)

From p2s2p: The interesting thing is, they didn’t think it would work for 3000s but it does! Here is what you have to do…follow the same instructions for the slim, but then throw in about 5 or 8 other pics in your photo folder, and when the thumbnails are loading, you have to scroll up and down, and then the PoC should boot up. You need at least 5.02 on a 3000 to work this.

You won’t get to use CSO’s yet… this is just to show that ta088v3 is hackable! Just keep trying, it took me about 30 tries but it finally worked. Looking forward to the update!

Tries it in my psp 3004, ofw 5.03. tried it a couple of times, with no luck. This is either unstable or just plain doesn’t work yet.
But on the other hand, the brains of homebrew are just prodding at sony, which is something i really like. These chaps are freaking good alright. Just waiting for that bit of awesomeness.
And for everyone who doesn’t know what next. This exploit and the Hello World screen just demonstrates that YOU CAN.

You would need to change the names of the other jpegs in the folder so that they are starting with something before ’s’. If that doesn’t work, it must be a PSP sort setting?

I got it to work after about 10 tries. First, was when I removed the battery and used just the power supply.
But, the second time was with just the battery. So, I don’t think that makes a difference here.

Precision timing is key. Both times, I pressed down at the exact moment the thumbnail of the jpeg that’s sitting just above slim.tiff loaded.
And I mean EXACT. 10/100ths of a second makes a difference.

Hopefully a little more stability will come with that surprise around the corner.

    Great job guys!

I got the same thing… a black screen with no words. But I figured out how to move the file. Turns out they are ordered according to the time they were last modified.

I got the black screen only once. But when I tried afterwards, it began to freeze again.
I agree with Jimi. It seems to be entirely in the timing.

Tried for 2 days. Until NOW!

    Finally did IT!!!!!!!!!

15 freezes, a black screen and 2 queer, green screens later, The crash happens and the words display.

    Homebrew here we come.
