PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33 released

Its only been a few days and Dark_AleX has released Custom Firmware at lightning speed.

Apart from the obvious firmware number change (see below), this update comes with a bug fix.
Dark_AleX:

Bug fix: when changing speed in xmb, and the psp turned the brightness to 0 automatically the speed was reseted to 222 again.

The readme also mentions that users of the save state plug-in will have to wait for an update due to problems with compatibility.

    @Deaddy: I had to go through that too along with some error thing before the thing started up. Also my backed up isos and csos no longer start up after the psp loading screen they go back to xmb with an message

    Gurbz, you have to hit select and go to the driver (i think) option and change it to sony 9## something. I can’t remember the terms off the top of my head, sorry.

    Hi guys i just want know if its possible to downgrade my psp slim 2000 (Black) which i recently bought brand new from the shops as it was on 4.01 but by accident i updated it to 4.05 just to play fifa 09 (hate myself for doing that) anyways i ‘ve bought a pandora battery and knnow how to use it as i managed to upgrade my friends phat psp to 3.71 m33.
    But here is the funny thing i tried to downgrade my psp slim using different methods but i always get the same result which is… green light by using pandora battery (good), nothing appears on my screen (ok as it’s meant to do that) but when i press the X button nothing happens (now that not right… the memory card and wifi are meant to be flashing, so y not?) it does the same thing in every method i tried half of em i cant remember the software i used, i just do my research and gave it a go but always come back to square 1 any ideas? plez help.

      hey Ranz , i think your wifi and the memory stick don’t flash because u did not make a proper pandora battery or probably missed something … also you need to have proper files like different versions and stuff in ur memory stick …

      Hey Gamez , yes you can put custom firmware on it as along the model of ur psp is psp1001 or psp2001 … it tells you the model on the bottom of your psp …

    I have a PSP-1001 with official firmware 4.05. I have not considered using it as a Homebrew PSP until I recieved a new PSP-3001. THis means the PSP-1001 is no longer needed, and can be used in ways that could “brick” it. I would like to know if there is a way OTHER than Pandora’s Battery to downgrade or upgrade to a cfw. If you know how to make a Pandora’s battery w/out rendering it useless as a regular battery, it would be greatly appreciated. I am a first timer, and have almost no experience, so simplicity is needed.

      Hey Gamer65554 , there is no other way to put cfw to ur psp unless you have some software that can install custom firmware to ur psp …

    i have 4.01 cfw. how do I update it to the new one? can i do system update like on the ofw? or do I have to play around with the files again? i don’t understand the instructions that came with the download.

      Hey loopy , you need a pandora battery and a magic memory stick to update your version … if you go to network update and try to update the version ur psp might get bricked so yeah …

    Wow… I got my God of War PSP from ebay cause i wanted one that can be hacked. So now after reading a whole lot i’ve got my cfw installed. went from 3.95 to i think 3.80 m33 then to 5.00 M33-6. Got my snes working, was having the same problem as Gurbz at the top, switched the setting like Deaddy said and it gets past the starting page it used to fail at but now it freezes up after loading and barely starting the first cutscene movie intro. I’m thinking i may have not put all the files in the right places.

    psp2001 – (god of war) OFW was 3.95
    CFW is now 5.00 M33-6
    The dadilus (or w/e) N64 works but dosent load any ROM’s right… (incompatible??)
    The SNES Emu works great so far with super mario world fine so far
    Prince of Persia (backup .cso borrowed from a “friend” i call Ares)starts up, loads, shows the maker’s graphics, then freezes as it’s done loading and begins movie/game where there looks like a light at the end of an ally (for anyone familier with the game). After it freezes no buttons respond and it reboots after about 20 secs or so.

    Thanks again for the help getting the CFW on my psp any help would be awesome!!

      sorry but no… BUT! this is what you can do.You can go to a “starbucks” or a hotel that offers free wifi and use ther connection, but be careful “scarfing” is illegal in 3 states (from my under standing). or scan for wifi in your area stronger the single the better,that worked for me hopefully it can work for you

    hey says you should download the m33 file (235KB)and the sony official update as 500.PBP in the same folder named update in PSP\GAME\UPDATE THEN YOU run it from the psp got it?
