PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33 released

5.00 M33 out now

Its only been a few days and Dark_AleX has released Custom Firmware 5.00 at lightning speed.

Apart from the obvious firmware number change (see below), this update comes with a bug fix.
Dark_AleX:

Bug fix: when changing speed in xmb, and the psp turned the brightness to 0 automatically the speed was reseted to 222 again.

The readme also mentions that users of the save state plug-in will have to wait for an update due to problems with compatibility.

    this is good but im not going to get it till all the bugs are fixed got it but went back to 401m33-2 just cuz all my plugins arent working properly id rather wait till all the bugs are fixed and all my plugins are compatible plus my popsloader aint working and i need to play ffvIII

    Jafri, what is your FW? It wont work on Sony firmware.

    I’ve always had problems with PSX games & popsloader. I’ll stick with my PSX on PS2 untill I can actually play PSX on PSP.

    PTF…? What do you mean? If you want the update, download it via Network (on CFW), then download the OFW Eboot from here. I think you mean PBP, btw.

    Hmm…. I’m not 100% sure about this. I actually want to upgrade to 5.00 but then again I’m afraid that I will BRICKED my PSP.

    @elbow the 3000 has not been hacked, this is simply a firmware update. these come out every couple of months. repeat the 3000 has not been hacked

    @ Farid and others. You need to run this off a PSP that is already on M33 Custom Firmware. If your PSP is not on CFW you’ll need a Pandora battery and DCv8 to flash it to 4.01 M33 then use this to get to 5.00 M33. Please check our forum for help with flash a PSP to CFW. http://pspslimhacks.com/forum/

    A Pandora’s battery is a Magic Memory stick with a Jigkick battery combined.

    A magic memory stick is a memory stick with files to flash on custom firmware, a pandora’s battery is a modified PSP-110 battery, that makes the PSP enter service mode.

    It doesn’t matter what firmware you’re at, you can downgrade any PSP (except for PSP-3000 and TA-088 v3 Slims)

    If you download the 4.01 M33 update and try to install it, nothing will happen. You just get an error telling you the game cannot run, because Sony’s official firmware cannot run unsigned code.

    There is no other way to install CFW on Slims without a Pandora’s Battery.

    You can make a Pandora’s Battery yourself, with a Phat PSP-1000, or you can buy a Datel TOOL battery. Google it, see what suits you.

    Magic Memory Sticks are easy to make, it requires a Magicgate Memory Stick PRO DUO (and PRO DUO only), anywhere between 128 MB to 4GB is fine. Again, search google for making a Magic Memory stick.

    After you have post, insert the memory stick, then pop in the Pandora’s battery, and a menu should appear, asking you whether you want to install 4.01 M33, 4.01 OFW, NAND options, etc.

    You can’t with the Slim, unless it’s the TA-085 motherboard. I’m assuming you have the TA-085 V2 or TA-088.

    Do you have any friends with a modded Phat PSP? If so, they could make it for you.

    I’m from Canada.

    I also have a Slim, with CFW.

    What I did was, buy a new battery, borrow a friend’s PSP 1000, and make a pandora’s battery.

    Then I used the Total Noobie Installer to make a magic memory stick that would bring me to 3.71 M33-4 i believe.

    TH\hen from there, I upgraded to 3.90 M33, then when 4.01 M33-2 came out I upgraded to that.

    If you have no friends with a PSP 1000, then the second option is to buy a Datel TOOL battery, basically the same thing as a pandora.

    Or, you can open up a normal PSP battery, and cut a pin. But this method is more risky.

    Listen To all of you who have OFW.YOU CANNOT RUN THE EMULATOR WITHOUT
    CFW. You need to either buy a Jig-Kick battery or make one yourself.You also need a Magic Memory Stick.To learn hot to make one, look at the forums or Google it.ALL FIRMWARES CAN GO INTO CFW(But not all PSP’s can go into CFW!).Downgrading or upgranding, doesn’t matter.

    im not trying to talk shit to those that are on ofw and want cfw, but this is not the place to be asking these questions. we have a forum that will answer your questions about pandora battery and magic mem sticks. if for some reason you cant find the answer there, there is something that is somewhat of a new concept to people it is called google try that. this is how i got the cfw on my slim.
