Soul Calibur requires firmware 5.55

This news came in from a source that wishes to remain anonymous, according to this individual’s email there are already reports that the apparent 5.55 firmware to block Custom Firmware from having games run from memory sticks has already been broken.

For example the recent , reportedly wasn’t working on Custom Firmware and required firmware 5.55 which blocked it. However its now working on all recent custom firmwares with the help of a simple PPF-O-MATIC patch and a few HEX edits. If you search youtube there is already video proof this..

If this is true, (which it seems to be) its not too good for Sony seeing that their latest Anti custom firmware protection has already been busted so quickly. Hmmm.

    It’s working on my PSP slim 3004 with 5.03 MHU. Soul Calibur IV Broken Destiny EUR PSP-Vanady. Ther’s software update 5.0 on the disc so it’s no required for 5.50 ;p

    I have edited the boot.bin and renamed it eboot.bin using the following instructions :

    1.extract BOOT.BIN from euro game.

    2.Open extracted BOOT.BIN in hex editor
    from 0x00399AF0 to 0x00399B0B
    hex with zeros MEMSTICK.IND….MSTK_PRO.IND

    at 0x0039A1C9 change text SAVEDATA to PAVEDATA
    at 0x0039C095 change text SAVEDATA to PAVEDATA

    3.rename BOOT.BIN to EBOOT.BIN repack iso. approx 350 MB.

    Features:
    1.No need to go to recovery menu.
    2.Boots on at least 5.00 m33-4 phat no deletion of mem stick files needed.
    3.Game Saving appears to work ok.

    Actually Soul Calibur came with a 5.00 update so it most likely needs only needs that firmware so i don’t think we can play other games using the same method as Soul Calibur.

    Yes it is working. On polish forum pspdownload you can download game (its working fine, you cane save game etc).
    Its wotking on my PSP 2k with ChickHEN Mod + CFE 3.51 (=5.03 MHU!!)

    hey guys i just downloaded Soul Calibur for my psp 2000 and i have cfw m33 5.00 and it works. all i had to do was go into recovery mode this is how u do it:

    1)take your battery out and put it back in.
    2)hold (R) while turning ur psp on to go into recovery mode.
    3)go to advanced.
    4)go to advanced configuration.
    5)go to execute Boot.BIN in UMD/ISO and click (X) on it to enabled it.
    6)exit and enjoy Soul Calibur.

    if u follow these steps just as i explained then u should have no problem playing it even if u have custom firmwar m33 5.00.

      Did you know that we don’t turn off our PSP’s by taking out our batteries? Have you ever heard of “Hold switch” on right of your PSP which we use to turn it back on? Well when I want to turn off my PC I pull out the power cable from the jack, and when I want to turn off my TV I hit him in the wall; did you know that that works?

        Anyway you came here like you are the one who found this way but I saw like 10 videos the first day on YouTube and I think 90% of people knew that and you came here and said like “wow i discovered america”, and now some people found a working way to get the things done perfectly (like this patch) and you came here with this solution which is not the topic. And this way (this patch) will 100% work but your way that “you found” wont work as it stucks on loading screen on some psp slim models. You should first read what’s topic all about and then think twice about what you write.

    i fixed that problem with my release yesterday ;) there are 2 spoofing codes missing ( don’t ask i won’t tell ) and that whole boot.bin trick does not need to be done in mine as well as i also fixed that.. all that needed to be done is d/l and played……KloWn

    hey guys… you can just rip the game using some kind of a bat file in order to play the game… even noobs can actually do it seriously… just get a copy of the soul calibur broken destiny eur the iso one… replace its name as “original” then use rip.bat and it will rip the unnecessary files in there… i’m playing it right now… it’s only approximately 349 MB in size…

    It is true.. The soul calibur IV released by KloWn doesn’t need any advanced setup to work.. It works on my psp 3k CFE 3.60..

      “Pull out your battery” (just kidding) Turn off your PSP, then turn it back on. Hold R when booting and go to advanced. Go there to advanced again. Then disable those 2 options. It should work then I guess

    I’m on a 2001 running 5.50 Gen-B. Yesterday I D/L a soul caliber version that didn’t work, and today I got a new version from demonoid that claims it is “fixed”, and it seems to work fine. I don’t know whose version it is (from you folks above), but none the less, thank you for your efforts! Can you fix GI Joe too?

    In case you were wondering, this file was a 346MB CSO.

    This is true I just got the English version and it works perfectly. Converted by KlOwN. Haven’t seen G.I Joe yet though.

      If you buy the game when it comes out and run the included upgrade if it requires it…. Other than that your probably out of luck for right now.

    Hey all you clowns, how about you buy the game first, then go download. Jesus you all wonder why developers want to stay away from creating games for the PSP. It is because of you, not one post I read regarding this game and “downloading it” mentioned that you previously owned the actual game. You are pathetic and I don’t like you one bit nor do I have respect for you, I hope and pray to whatever it is you pray to in the universe that you will be arrested and prosecuted. Please buy your games first, then read, and FYI I run CFW myself, but own every game I play.

    I got it working on my 5.00 M33-6.
    - Boot up menu by holding the R shoulder button when you power on
    -Go to Advanced Menu
    -Advanced Configuration Menu
    -Go to Execute Boot.bin in UMD/ISO (Currently Enabled) [basically just enable it]

    It should work now.

    so i got firmware 5.03 MHU

    for all people who has CFW 5.00 M33, if u want to play SC BD, and dont want loading with number, first of all go to root memory stick and delete the two .IND file and all off SC BD save data, after that go to the recovery menu => advanced => advance configuration => and go to second option(execute BOOT.BIN UMD/ISO) and then enable it, after that exit recovery menu and play the SC BD!
    It works for me(PSP 2000 5.00 M33-6)

    Soul Calibur Broken destiny, I can already play this game

    The Japanese version won’t work, but the Soul Calibur Broken destiny EU version will work.

    I have tested on PSP 1000 with 5.50 GEN-B
    1. When boot up go to recovery mode
    2. Advanced > Advance Configuration
    3. Enable the second option

    You should be able to play it.

      when there is number when loading, it means it doesn’t work.. the point is do not create save file, instead use pspstate to save, and first thing to do is delete two .IND file on your root mem stick, go to recovery mode, advance, advance configuration, enable second option, exit recovery mode, play SC BD, when it ask to save cancel it.. mine works on CFW 5.00 m33

    Just download the soul calibur eur iso . Download the soul calibur ripkit here-http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JL3OQS3A-Rename the iso to original.iso and place it in the ripkit folder. A new cso file will appear place that file in the psp and play . No additional setup reqired.Trust me. It worked on psp 3k 5.03MHU CFWE 3.60.

    CFW’s is always a huge boost on PSP’s hardware sales, Sony must know that by now.

    I’ve tried everything listed here on this link and can not get this game to play.
    It gets almost to the loading screen and I get this-> The game could not be started. (80010002)

    Any suggestions here?

    I’m currently running: 5.00 M33-6
    I’ve set all settings in the Recovery Menu as follows:

    1)hold (R) while turning ur psp on to go into recovery mode.
    2)go to advanced.
    3)go to advanced configuration.
    4)go to execute Boot.BIN in UMD/ISO and click (X) on it to enabled it.
    5)exit and enjoy Soul Calibur. Not for me ATM :(

    I’ve even tried: Deleting two .IND files
    I’m kind of at a loss here…I’m also using the Patched .CSO from KloWn & I’ve never had any problems with his post.
    So I’m kinda a little bit like…WTF?!?
