well this should help alot of people still using 1.5 kernal emulators

i think alot of apps that arent emulators use the 3.x kernal though

I havent updated yet. Now imight tho knowing that some issues will be gone but i dont use a 1.5 kern so it really didnt make a difference to me anyhow. Might wait for 4.01 m33-3 if there is one

WARNING!!!! If you hold the “R” Trigger and power your PSP on with this new firmware…once you change the settings and hit “EXIT”…YOUR PSP WILL BRICK!!! I have flashed and recovered my PSP 4 times now testing this…it BRICKS every time if you go into the RECOVERY menu and hit “EXIT” Highly recommend not upgrading to this version until this flaw is fixed!!

I have 6 PSP’s and over a dozen memorysticks…I have tried it on different combinations…all with the same result. I am currently running 3.93M33-3 on all my PSP’s…so just maybe that has something to do with it?!? Maybe I’ll downgrade one to 3.80 and give it a try…but I’m tired of messing with it right now…I didn’t see anything really new that makes it a must have flash anyways at this point.

I dont think having 3.90 m33-3 is the problem, cuz i had the same version before i upgraded and there was no problem at all, maybe its a plugin u have.

I don’t think its a plugin…I only have 2, and the system runs fine and seems to play all my emulators and such…but the problem happens when I go into the recovery menu to change from UMD boot to M33 boot…I make the change…back out of the config. menu…hit “exit” and brick. The 2 plugins are a theme plugin and popsloader plugin. It really don’t matter…it ran long enough for me to see no noticable difference in functionality then that of 3.93M33-3 so until some software comes along that requires the newer firmware…I’ll stick with the old saying…if its not broke don’t fix it.

Wait! a theme setting? the cxmb? cuz when i used to activate the cxmb plugin and hit exit the screen would just black out, it could be fixed though, going to recovery and deactivating it, in the end i got the new version of cxmb and now i can use it, oh and i set it to m33 boot and it didnt brick, u should try check those things.

    hey guys,
im skeptical so far, hearing such mixed reviews.
so i am asking to only those with 4.01m33-2 to reply.

is it honestly an improvement over 3.90m33-3,
or is it currently more of a hassle?

Well 4.01 m33-2 isnt such a big deal, since it still doesnt have the xmb recovery or savestate support, maybe in 4.01 m33-3 it will. but m33-2 the only thing it changes is support for new game titles, some internet search thing and that u can change the speed of videos, its really not a big deal, but u can upgrade if u want or simply wait for m33-3.

i just letting anyone know that 4.01m33-2 is good and stable. but when you load alot of games like 3 to 4gb, sometimes the memory stick has to be formated again?? the 8gb’s are real, (SANDISK) I loaded my 8gb into a fat psp with 3.90m33-3 and it worked fine. maybe 4.01m33-2 needs a mspatch?

Just updated my Slim to 4.01 M33-2 from 3.71… Things I noticed besides the new applications (Skype and Internet Search) were:

    1) Certain games are experiencing significant slowdowns, both in screen loading times and in-game animations as well (Taiko no Tatsujin Portable 2, massive slowdown during song loading)

    2) A major issue with music playback - not sure if it’s an issue with VBR MP3 streams, but playback suffers massive slowdowns randomly (audio playback slows down, music track needs to be paused then played again to return to normal)

Any of you guys experienced these?

Alot of people are bashing the purchase of the battery because it can be done for free, but I say to heck with them. It is not worth the trouble to go through the battery deal and look at the bright side, you are saving money in the long run.

    @ rhodlhey

try shutting off the psp completely. then turn it on while holding “R”. Go to “Configuration” then go to “UMD mode” keep pressing “X” until it says “Sony NP9660 -NO UMD-” thats what helped me =D. If that doesn’t work, try re-dumping the ISO.
    1) put a game in the PSP
    2) turn on PSP
    3) press “select”
    4) go down to “USB Device”
    5) go left once and it should say “UMD Disk”
    6) press “exit” then go to “USB Connection”
    7) a window should pop up with the file “ISO9660″
    8) that is the ISO (the game in the “ISO format”)
    9) drag it somewhere on your computer
    10) once it’s on your computer, exit USB Mode
    11) press “select” again
    12) change “USB Device” back to “Memory Stick”
    13) exit the M33 VSH Menu
    14) go back to “USB Connection”
    15) this time, you should see the files on your memory stick.
    16) Create a folder called “ISO” if you didn’t already
    17) Stick the ISO in there =D
    18) DONE!

if it still doesn’t work, the game you dumped (UMD) is probably damaged in some way.

On step “9″, if you see the error “Cannot Copy File. Parameter is incorrect” (think thats what it says), it means that the UMD game is probably damaged in some way.

(UMD’s don’t have to look damaged to be dammaged)

Good Luck! Hope that helped you and some other ppl out!

Any one else’s xmb/usb plugin not working? When I hold the music note and hit L-Trig, the mute just comes on. But I also noticed that when I listen to music ” Mostly stolen Howard Stern ” The PSP will now automatically return to the title of the last Mp3 you were listing to, when ever you exit the Music folder in the xmb. That is a nice feature if you use your psp to listen to music, which i do every day. I use this thing for way more then just games. Sony really needs to step up on PSP-3000. Ill pay more for touch screen, phone, Large Flash HD, and the same shit it dose now. with the forgotten 2nd analog button.
