Judging from the comments made on PSPGen (The GEN/Miriam Custom Firmware homepage) Version 4.00 GEN might not see the light of day as a public release. Although a beta version of 4.00 Gen has been completed by Miriam, Team GEN might keep this release internal as they are aware that Dark_AleX and team M33 and busy on thier own custom firmware – 4.00 M33 due to be released soon.
Miriam / Team GEN – Translated from French:
“The concept of Custom firmware GEN was to show that there is an alternative to Dark_Alex but never try to take his place. If he returns to the runway, the need for the line 4.00 GEN does not feel right.”
So either way users wanting to run homebrew with the features of Firmware 4.00 will have their custom firmware soon be it 4.00 M33 or 4.00 GEN. Its nice to see they are not directly competing, racing to see who will get 4.00 custom firmware out first.
So what do you think? 4.00 Gen should be unreleased? Let the Team M33 release their work first?

I think this is very noble of GEN. I would like to see the 4.00 GEN version be released though. I have a slim and a PHAT. I could use both so it would be worth both being released. I liked 3.95.

gen can make your battery into service mode via recovery mode but i prefer m33 as im used to it….

I like the fact that 4.00 Gen is not being released. How many programs would be made to install GEN and M33 firmwares. SO many topics on whose firmware is better, which one should i use.

hate them? Pretty harsh… Ok there were alot of bugs compared to the the releases from M33. But 3.95 GEN 2 was meant to fix a bunch of those issues. I guess the first release was rushed a bit before being tested if homebrew emus and apps would work.

I would be very interested to try releases from both GEN and M33. For sure the two teams will push each other and innovation will be the result.
As it stands GEN seems to giving way to M33. The respect between the teams is nice to see, but I would love to see head to head releases.

if it’s not broke, don’t fix it, no one wants to have to help each other trouble shoot different firmwares, it’s easier to have one universal amazing firmware

I realy want anyone to win just as long as someone finishes up soon because of course who ever comes first and if they make GEN-2 or M33-2 or what ever comes first, If persay M33 comes out first and they make another one before GEN even comes out all that says is that the GEN one is going to be better or the other way around if it was GEN who made 2 first.
