Today Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has released firmware version 3.73. They have only announced one change:
It is unconfirmed when other regions will release the new update. As you have probably already guessed, DarkAlex and homebrew developer Mathieulh have stated that there are no critical changes. In fact, 3.72 and 3.73 are almost completely identical except 20 bytes worth of change to lflash_fatfmt, the module versions, and the text file that displays the firmware version. Sony, you continue to disappoint me ….

We are successfully on a new 64bit CPU powered server. CENTOS Enterprise 4.5, Running Apache 2.2.6 and Php 5.2, also PHP eAccelerator V0.9.2. So hopefully you can notice some speed difference. And also as this is the only site on the server Not like your shared hosts were you are site 1 of about 4000! Sharing resources with massive CPU / Memory limits imposed.
Also this server is based in USA as the greater percent of our readers are based in the States.
Sony has announced a 2200mAh Extended Life Battery Kit for the PSP-2000. These batteries will increase the performance of your PSP by 80%.
The size of this battery is bigger than the normal ones, so it will stick out on your slim. This is why Sony have included two battery covers for the Piano Black and Icy Silver systems. If you have the original PSP, this will work as well.
The kit will be available in mid-December for $44.99. I am assuming this is for the US.

StrmnNrmn has posted an update on his progress on Daedalus R14, according to the homebrew developer things are going well on his work implementing the media engine to handle the N64 audio emulation.
The Media Engine work has been going well. The job manager I talked about last week is now fairly functional and handles executing the audio upsampling code in 3 different modes: synchronously, asynchronously on the main processor, and asynchronously on the ME
StrmnNrmn has commented that he has implemented use of BenHur’s intraFont library, using default PSP Fonts which come out a lot smoother looking. (As you can see from the above screenshot) The Progress made so far is great, keep up the good work StrmnNrmn!

Apparently there is a “Sony DTP-L1500″ UMD tester being auctioned on eBay at the moment. According to the seller, what this machine does is test and debug pre-launch PSP titles on DVD or preview titles on UMD. Who would want that? Anyway, if you’re interested, check the source link. It comes with:

*Update* It seems that the item has been removed from eBay. This may be due to Sony copyright issues.
